Solo piano

Espen’s debut album as a solo pianist, Noctilucent (2012), was declared one of the most beautiful releases of 2012 by AllAboutJazz.com, placing it in their top-ten year’s end list. Acres of Blue was released in 2014, and in 2022 Espen released his first fully improvised and live-recorded concert, The Trondheim Concert (NXN Recordings) which received some pretty spectacular reviews: What we have here, is quite possibly one of the finest improvised solo piano performances I have had the pleasure of listening to in the last decade or so – Mike Gates, UK Vibe, 5 stars. Stuart Nicholson at Jazzwise awarded four stars and an Editor’s Choice: Impressive stuff – the future of the spontaneously-improvised solo concert is in safe hands.
